Kingsley Kwenani becomes new Meatco NCA subsidiary CEO

Meatco’s Foundation Executive, Kingsley Kwenani, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly established Meatco’s subsidiary company, the Meatco Northern Communal Area (Pty) Ltd.

 

The Meatco NCA (Pty) Ltd is 100% owned by Meatco. The company was established to drive Meatco’s NCA strategy in the Northern Communal Area (NCA) of Namibia.

 

Kwenani has been heading Meatco’s social responsibility vehicle (Meatco Foundation) since 2013. At the Foundation, Kwenani was tasked with the responsibility of developing the Meatco NCA strategy, Meatco Business Plan, the Social Economic Assessment Toolbox Report on the proposed zone in the NCA.

In February 2019, the Meatco Board approved the Meatco NCA strategy for implementation and tasked Kwenani to drive the NCA strategy enrolment and process to lay the foundation for implementation.

 

This year, the Meatco Board appointed Kwenani as the first CEO of the newly established Meatco NCA subsidiary to drive the Meatco NCA strategy as from 1 April 2020.

 

“Meatco has developed a winning strategy that would assist farmers in the NCA, who had no sustainable markets since 2014. I look forward to working with the NCA farmers and stakeholders in the quest to alleviate the plight of the farmers.  And, as part of Meatco’s mandate to remain active in the NCA, establishing a subsidiary in this area is a milestone for us. This will assist us to directly contribute to the livelihoods of the farmers here and revive the livestock as well as the agricultural industry in the NCA,” Kwenani says.

 

Kwenani has operated in the NCA before through different institutions. Therefore, with his experience, credentials and industry insight as well as a sound geographical knowledge of the NCA, he assuredly would add value to the lives of the farmers in that area. He also brings value to Meatco, as a meat processing and marketing entity that sources cattle from Namibian farmers all over the country.
